The Opportunity. 

As the VP of Marketing, you will be responsible for running the overall strategy around all digital acquisition and growth for the company, encompassing both customer acquisition and retention marketing to deliver on ambitious revenue and profitability goals.

You will have executive accountability for all digital performance marketing channels, including paid search, SEO, paid social media, display advertising, retargeting, affiliate marketing, emails/SMS and Amazon.

This is a remote position that will work directly with the CEO to set Alpha Lion’s long-term growth strategies ensuring they are both aligned with the overall brand vision and brand values.

  • Work directly with the CEO to set and execute the roadmap for Alpha Lion’s short and long-term growth plans.

  • Build a strategic marketing plan with innovative campaigns that are driven by creative, brand & direct marketing, as well as community building to increase brand visibility and awareness to drive audience reach and maximize revenue.

  • Develop & manage the marketing budget through comprehensive demand plans that allow for optimization to ensure activities are effective, efficient and deliver successful ROI metrics.

  • Hire, manage & mentor the marketing team into a world class organization that is inspired to deliver against marketing & company goals on a daily basis.

  • Determine the KPIs and build the dashboards that each functional area of the Marketing Team needs to execute effectively in the context of the larger functional goals.

  • Own analytics and insight: Understand key insights and attribution to build insightful dashboards and measure KPIs (CAC/LTV, retention) to drive growth and revenue and own achievement of weekly and monthly KPIs.

  • Develop and drive lifecycle retention programs, including transactional messaging, loyalty programs and large-scale campaigns to effectively increase customer LTV.


  • 10+ years of experience in eCommerce, with a deep focus on performance-based growth marketing.

  • Experience working across the full DTC marketing funnel (customer acquisition, conversion and engagement).

  • Proven ability to develop and execute a strategic marketing plan that leverages brand insights with a comprehensive tactical marketing plan evaluated against a set of business metrics.

  • A background in owning and managing a budget, forecasting, and delivering on monthly goals of spend, CAC, ROAS, Retention and LTV.

  • Both a strong strategic thinker, with the ability to translate quantitative and qualitative data/insights into strong marketing strategies, and a highly organized “doer,” with a data-driven mentality and a bias towards action.

  • Highly analytical; able to make data-driven decisions and establish effective metrics to approach marketing strategy & spend, while not losing sight of the brand.

  • Proven ability to leverage multiple data sources to develop hypotheses and execute rapid test and learn strategies.

  • Deep expertise of ad/web/email reporting and analytics platforms, such as Google AdWords, Facebook, Google Analytics, Optimizely, etc.).

  • Experienced with channel testing methodology, lifecycle marketing programs and multiple attribution models.

  • Best-in-class brand builder and storyteller; proven success crafting brands from the ground up.

  • Strong digital knowledge and understanding of the evolving media landscape.

  • Strong track record of effective collaboration with creative/brand marketing and product management teams.

  • Experience building, leading, and managing a team of direct reports.

  • Experience in a growth-stage company is highly preferred.
